Broadmeadows seven-year turbine saga nears end

Councillors have unanimously rejected plans for a Borders wind farm scheme first submitted seven years ago.

The proposals for Broadmeadows Farm near Selkirk had been scaled back.

The original application was for 13 turbines but that had been reduced to eight by developer GreenPower Broadmeadows Ltd.

Planning officials had advised refusal saying the project would have a "significant adverse impact on the landscape character of the area".
