The new Scottish cabinet is to hold a series of meetings across the country

The Scottish government is to hold cabinet meetings across the country again this summer.

Ministers will visit Fort William, Stranraer, Kirkcaldy and Elgin as part of what has become an annual event.

Previous meetings have been held in Dundee, Melrose, Stornoway, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Dumfries, Inverness, Skye, Isle of Bute, Pitlochry, Dornoch, Stirling and Kilmarnock.

First Minister Alex Salmond said it was a chance to "discuss important issues".

The summer schedule starts in Fort William on 28 July.

Further meetings follow in Stranraer on 9 August, Kirkcaldy on 23 August and Elgin on 6 September.

It will be the fourth year the summer cabinet tour has taken place.
