West Linton £20m Robinsland housing plans refused

Councillors have followed planning officer advice and rejected a £20m housing development in the Borders.
Developers Springfield Properties wanted to build a total of 82 houses at Robinsland in West Linton.
Despite continued negotiations between Scottish Borders Council and the firm, officials were still advising that the authority should reject the scheme.
They said the plans had improved on the original application, but remained dissatisfied with the designs.
Since the bid was submitted it has attracted 36 objections from villagers concerned about traffic congestion and the expected pressure on the local infrastructure.
