Dumfries and Galloway tourism funding support approved

A slice of the funding will be used to finance a range of marketing campaigns
A council funding package worth nearly £900,000 has been agreed to support tourism in Dumfries and Galloway.
The bulk of the money goes to VisitScotland to finance a range of marketing campaigns.
A local industry organisation, Destination Dumfries and Galloway, has also secured support.
Council enterprise manager Chris Brown said the level of support was relatively modest considering the value of the sector to the region.
It has been estimated that tourism is worth £285m to the local economy and supports more than 7,000 jobs.
The council funding package is for the next three years.
