Plans for a 30-turbine wind farm in Upper Nithsdale have been officially submitted to the Scottish government.

Renewable energy developer Burcote Wind is behind the plans at Sandy Knowe, south west of Kirkconnel and Kelloholm.

It said the scheme could meet the electricity needs of more than 41,000 homes.

The company has also claimed that it would provide more than £11m towards projects in the area via a community benefit fund.

Burcote Wind's managing director, Graham Brown, said: "We've been delighted, not only with the support in the community, but with the ideas and advice of local people."
