A new purpose-built training centre for fire and rescue services in Dumfries and Galloway has recently come into full use. All pictures by Colin Colthart

The complex at the Garroch Loaning on the outskirts of Dumfries represents an investment of £1.2m

The on-site facilities are capable of recreating a wide range of emergency scenarios such as house fires, multi-vehicle collisions, collapsed buildings and sewer rescues

Animal rescue training is also covered at the site in the south of Scotland

A full-size model horse is among the items used to help recreate real-life rescue scenarios
