Interfloor factory closure in Dumfries to cost 53 jobs

Work will transfer from Dumfries to Lancashire

The closure of a carpet underlay factory in Dumfries has left 53 workers facing redundancy.

Interfloor, which employs a total of 109 staff at three sites in the town, is planning to close its Tredaire division at Heathhall.

Manufacturing will be transferred to the firm's headquarters in Lancashire.

Marketing director, Steve Woodhead, said it was a "regrettable but necessary" decision in the face of spiralling costs.
