Grantshouse wind turbine proposal gets green light
- Published
Plans to create a 13-turbine wind farm near Grantshouse have been given the go-ahead by Scottish Borders Council.
Banks Renewables had sought permission to erect the turbines on Quixwood Moor, a site between the village and Abbey St Bathans in Berwickshire.
The application was approved on the casting vote of planning committee vice-chairman Councillor Jim Brown after the votes were tied at 5-5.
Planning officials had recommended that the proposals be accepted "on balance".
Local Councillor Jim Fullarton spoke against the scheme, saying that he found it strange that Quixwood was deemed acceptable when the committee had agreed to consult on limiting turbine sizes in smaller developments in the area.
