Crowds lined the streets of Galashiels on Tuesday evening to welcome home Grand National winning jockey Ryan Mania

It was victory in the Grand National on Saturday which ensured a hero's welcome for Ryan Mania in Galashiels

Preparations for the parade got under way as soon as it was confirmed the young jockey was being released from hospital after a nasty fall at Hexham on Sunday

Mania partnered 66/1 shot Auroras Encore to victory over the famous Aintree course at the weekend

People in Galashiels had all sorts of ways of paying tribute to their local hero

Mania had a rollercoaster weekend after winning the Grand National on Saturday and suffering injury the following day

The Galashiels man got a specially warm welcome back to the Borders from his mother Lesley

Mania said it meant "everything" to him to see so many people turn out. "It's a bit overwhelming really, I can't thank them enough," he added
