A roof tile company has made a £250,000 investment to upgrade facilities at its factory in the south of Scotland.

Russell Roof Tiles is expanding the products it offers from its Lochmaben base.

The site was established in 1964 as the Annandale Tile Company and currently employs a team of 40.

The company's national operations manager, Bruce Laidlaw, said the move was proof of a commitment to invest in the business.

"This new investment will allow us to respond to the increases in house building stimulated by a number of factors, including the government's Help to Buy scheme," he said.
