Tour of Britain starts in Scottish Borders and Dumfries and Galloway

Sir Bradley Wiggins is favourite to win the 10th Tour of Britain

The Tour of Britain cycle race is getting under way with a stage from Peebles in the Borders to Drumlanrig Castle in Dumfries and Galloway.

It is the eighth time the event has come to Scotland since it was relaunched in 2004.

Top names in the sport including Sir Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish and Nairo Quintana are taking part.

The eight-stage race starts in Scotland on Sunday and finishes in London in a week's time.

The Grand Depart saw riders set off from Peebles High Street shortly after 10:00.

The race was then due to pass through Innerleithen, Walkerburn, Selkirk, Hawick, Newcastleton, Gretna, Annan, Dumfries and Dunscore.

It is expected to finish at Drumlanrig Castle between 15:30 and 16:15.

Last year's Scottish stage was won by Cavendish but overall Tour victory went to fellow British rider Jonathan Tiernan-Locke.
