Appeal over Hawick phone box Bible find

  • Published

Police in the Borders are trying to trace the owner of an old leather-bound Bible found in a phone box in Hawick.

It was discovered by a member of the public in the box on Bourtree Place on 30 September.

It was handed in to police but the owner of the illustrated, family Bible has not come forward.

Pc Steven Irvine said: "This Bible appears to be a rare, antique item that has probably been passed down within a family.

"Therefore anyone who recognises the description of this book or thinks they may be the owner should call into Hawick Police Station or call Police Scotland on 101."
