Dumfries hosts Under-20 Men's World Championship ice hockey

The Under-20 Men's World Championship ice hockey competition is getting under way at the Dumfries Ice Bowl.

Six teams are taking part in the event which runs until Sunday and will see 15 fixtures take place.

As well as Great Britain the other sides involved are Japan, France, Italy, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

The south of Scotland venue previously hosted the International Ice Hockey Federation's Under-18 Women's World Championship last year.

Proceedings get under way with a clash between Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

Team GB's first match is at 20:00 on Monday against Italy.

They are participating in Division 1B of the tournament with the winners gaining promotion to Division 1A.
