Dumfries Ice Bowl car park swimming pool bid approved

A fresh bid to site a temporary swimming pool in an ice rink car park during the closure of a council's £17m leisure centre has been approved.
A first attempt to get planning permission to build the structure at Dumfries Ice Bowl was rejected.
A second application had been made which tried to address traffic concerns which led to its failure.
Councillors voted in favour of the plans with a number of conditions to address those parking issues.
The Dumfries DG One complex is to shut in October this year for major repairs.
Transport plan
Its pool will be shut for 17 months and it was hoped a temporary replacement could be erected outside the town's Ice Bowl.
However, a council committee rejected the proposal in April due to concerns traffic plans could not be managed or enforced.
Now a fresh attempt has succeeded in getting the plans approved.
Changes had been made to the traffic management proposals to try to address the issues raised.
They included the identification of all public parking near the site and details on promoting public transport to get to the pool.
