Biker killed in A708 crash near Moffat identified

Police have named a motorcyclist who died in a crash on the A708 a few miles north-east of Moffat.
David Shilton, 72, of Wallyford near Musselburgh, was killed in the accident at about 19:45 on Wednesday, about half a mile east of Polmoodie.
A green BMW R1100 motorbike being ridden by Mr Shilton left the road and crashed.
Emergency services were sent to the incident and he was treated by ambulance staff but died at the scene.
The road was shut for eight hours.
PC Scott McCreadie said Mr Shilton appeared to have been travelling at the rear of a group of motorcyclists when the crash happened and appealed for witnesses.
