Paraglider crashes into Innerleithen school playground

The accident happened in the school playground on Sunday afternoon

A man has been taken to hospital after a paraglider crashed into a school playground in the Borders.

The incident happened at about 15:40 on Sunday at St Ronan's Primary School in Innerleithen.

A 59-year-old man who lives in the area was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by ambulance as a result of the accident.

Police said inquiries into the incident were continuing and said the man's condition was "stable".

Scottish Borders Council said there had been no damage to the school in the crash and it had been able to open as normal on Monday.
