A man has appeared in court charged with murder following the death of a 33-year-old man in Stranraer.

Gary Handling died in hospital after police were called to reports of a disturbance on the town's John Simpson Drive at about 23:40 on Monday.

Mark Allison, 23, has been charged with murder, assault and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

He made no plea at Stranraer Sheriff Court and was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
