Death of man, 79, in Brydekirk house fire not suspicious

Police have confirmed that the death of a 79-year-old in a house fire in the south of Scotland was not suspicious.

Peter Scott died in the blaze in Lady Street, Brydekirk, on 31 October.

Emergency services were called to the fire at about 09:40 and Mr Scott was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal," a Police Scotland spokesman said.
