Three pedestrians struck by car which left road in the Borders

The incident happened on the A698 in Denholm around 15:10 on Friday

A woman was badly injured when a car left the road and struck three pedestrians in the Borders.

The incident happened on the A698 in Denholm at around 15:10 on Friday and involved a Mitsubishi Eclipse car.

One of the pedestrians, a 75-year-old woman, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries.

The other two women, aged 71 and 68, as well as the 60-year-old male driver of the car were taken to Borders General Hospital for treatment.

Sgt Grant Hastie, of Police Scotland's Road Policing Unit, said: "We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances which led to this collision and would urge anyone with information to get in touch.

"We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area are around the time of the collision."
