Two lorry drivers have died after what appears to have been a head-on crash on the A9 north of Blair Atholl.
The collision happened at about 02:25 in the Calvine area. Tayside Police said the men who died were both thought to be in their 30s and were from the Glasgow area.
The A9 re-opened shortly before 20:00, after a day of drivers facing lengthy diversions and delays.
The diversion for southbound traffic added 120 miles to some journeys.
The accident happened when a southbound silver articulated lorry, carrying barrels of whisky, collided with a blue John Menzies lorry, which was carrying newspapers bound for Inverness.
In a separate incident, a motorist has been seriously injured in a crash on Carron Road in Falkirk.
It happened at about 02:20 at the junction with Foundry Street. The driver of a Honda Civic was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
