Kelpies sculpture takes shape on Forth and Clyde canal

The sculpture consists of two horses heads and will be 30m (98ft) tall

The work is claimed to be the largest equine sculpture in the world and one of the largest pieces of public art in the UK

The cost of the sculpture is £5m and it uses a total of 600 tonnes of structural steel

The steel involved is being fabricated in Yorkshire and transported to Falkirk

The Kelpies will be visible from the M9 motorway and should be seen by up 32 million people each year

The sculpture is scheduled to be complete by mid-August and there will be no charge for visiting the site
