Police propose cuts to public counters at stations

Public counter services will remain open at eight stations in Forth Valley, including at Falkirk
Public counter services are to be withdrawn from many police stations as part of a Police Scotland review.
Counters will no longer be staffed at Bannockburn, Bridge of Allan and Tullibody stations in the Forth Valley.
Across Tayside and Perthshire, counters will no longer be staffed at Auchterarder, Blairgowrie, Brechin, Carnoustie, Crieff, Kinross, Longhaugh, Maryfield and Montrose.
Traffic warden services are also being withdrawn as part of the review.
Police Scotland said stations in the affected areas would continue to be manned.
The force said the changes would provide a "more efficient" service.
The current proposals are subject to staff consultation.
Liz Smith, Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife condemned the proposals.
She said: "In a number of cases it has been proposed that a number of police stations will have no public counter provision whatsoever - this will clearly impact on community policing and ultimately many people will see this leading to local police stations being closed."
