Dozens of radiology patients attending Ninewells Hospital in Dundee had their appointments cancelled due to "demand issues", it has emerged.
NHS Tayside said about 40 patients were affected by the problem on Friday 27 September and Monday and Tuesday of this week.
The health authority said it had since written to the affected patients to apologise.
It added that missed appointments would be rescheduled as soon as possible.
In a statement, NHS Tayside said: "On Friday 27 September, clinical radiology had to cancel at short notice CT outpatient lists due to urgent inpatient activity which took priority.
"This resulted in 40 cancellations. Apology letters have been issued to all patients affected.
"In addition, all patients have now been either phoned or sent a letter offering them another appointment slot.
"We would like to reiterate our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this has caused."
The health authority added that the problems were not IT-related and had nothing to do with those experienced by hospitals in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
