Falkirk man accused of murder and rapes back in court

A man has made a second appearance in court charged with murdering a 23-year-old woman and raping two others in Falkirk.

Steven Mathieson, 38, stands accused of killing Luciana Maurer, who was originally from Transylvania, Romania.

Ms Maurer's body was found in a bedroom of a house on Falkirk's Springfield Drive in the early hours of 5 December.

Mr Mathieson again made no plea at Falkirk Sheriff Court and was fully committed and remanded in custody.

He faces one charge of murder, two of abduction, and two of rape.
