Speeding motorists caught in Forth Valley crackdown

Over 30 people have been reported for road traffic offences in Forth Valley following a weekend-long police operation.

Operation Zenith motorcycle patrols reported 25 people for speeding offences on the region's main arterial routes.

Police said another man was charged for drink driving and possession of a controlled drug.

In addition to those reported, warnings were given to a further 22 people.

A car was also seized after a woman was charged with speeding, and driving without a licence or insurance.

Other offences detected included driving without an MOT or tax and not wearing a seatbelt.

'High-visibility presence'

Sgt Adam Weir of Forth Valley's road policing unit said: "Speed limits are in place for a reason, and failing to stay at or below these not only endangers your own life but those of other road users as well.

"Over the course of the weekend we were able to provide a high visibility presence and focus on areas where you have identified speeding as a problem, or where collisions have been known to occur in the past.

"Operation Zenith will continue throughout the summer months and I'd urge everyone to ensure that their vehicle is kept road safe, safety precautions such as seatbelts are used at all times, and that road signs and speed limits are adhered to."
