A man has appeared in court on a number of charges including shooting at members of the public with a paintball gun.

Anthony Rasmussen, 23, from Clydebank, allegedly assaulted 11 people at various streets in Glasgow, Bearsden, Drymen and Clydebank on 23 June.

He appeared from custody in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court to face 17 charges.

He made no plea and was released on bail.

One charge alleges Rasmussen struck a man on the body with "the contents of a paintball gun or similar to his injury".

Another claims he did "repeatedly shoot" a man "on the body with a paintball gun to his injury" and a third charge alleges he shot a woman on the head "with a paintball gun to her injury".

Car on fire

Papers from the court claim Mr Rasmussen "culpably and recklessly" discharged a paintball gun on four occasions on 23 June at areas in Glasgow, Carbeth, Milngavie.

Three of those charges allege this was done while in a moving vehicle, to the danger of those around.

Rasmussen is also accused resetting an Audi car on Greendyke Street, Glasgow on the same date and that between 22 and 23 June at Curle Street, Whiteinch, he stole number plates.

Many of the charges claim that Rasmussen was acting with another, or others at the time.

A car which officers said may have been the vehicle involved was later found on fire in Croftamie, Stirlingshire.
