'Safe conclusion' to Grangemouth petrochemical plant blaze

Firefighters have extinguished a large blaze in the dock area of the Grangemouth petrochemical plant.

The emergency services were called to the plant shortly after 10:45.

Police Scotland said at about 13:30 that the incident had been brought to a "safe conclusion."

Officers said the fire was isolated to the dock area and there were no reported injuries or risks to local residents.

Ch Insp Chris Stewart said: "I attended an incident this morning at the Grangemouth docks in relation to a fire, along with resources from Falkirk police, the Scottish Ambulance Service and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

"I can confirm there was no risk to the public and the incident was quickly and safely brought to a conclusion."

He added: "The incident has now been resolved. I would like to thank the professional response from everyone who attended."
