Nearly 20 homes evacuated after fire at flats in Laurieston

Nineteen homes had to be evacuated after a fire broke out at a block of flats and shops in Laurieston, near Falkirk.

Emergency crews were called to the scene in Mary Street at about 20:00 on Saturday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said there were no reported injuries.

A spokesperson said inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, however the fire is not believed to have been wilful.
