Interactive map: Wind farms in Wales

A public inquiry into what would be the tallest wind farm in Wales is to finish taking evidence.

The Mynydd Y Gwair wind farm, planned for nine miles north of Felindre, near Swansea would have 19 turbines, measuring up to a height of 127 metres (419 feet) to the tip of the highest blade.

The turbines would be the tallest structures in Wales. The amount of wind farms across Wales is expected to double in the coming years.

Since the first wind farm opened in Rhyd-y-Groes, on Anglesey, in 1992 the size of turbines has more than doubled, while the power capacity of wind farms has, on average, increased five-fold.
