In pictures: Gavin and Stacey tour
"Bank Holiday weekend" and "Barry Island" go together like, well, fish and chips
The resort gained wider recognition for TV hit Gavin and Stacey, and tours of the locations run over the summer months in a coach used in the series
But making a surprise appearance to delight fans of the show was co-writer and star Ruth Jones, who had been shopping in the area and spotted the bus.
"What's occurrin'?" as her alter ego Nessa Jenkins might say. "They are all so knowledgeable about the show - they know more about it than I do," said Jones after meeting the fans, from as far afield as Australia and Canada.
Brenda Tucker, the tour guide, takes on the role as Gavin's mother Pamela, from Essex, for the ride
Fiction meets fact, with Marco Zeraschi, real-life cafe owner, where Stacey worked in the show. Photographs: Andrew Lloyd/Wales News
