West End performer Connie Fisher has married the boyfriend she met by chance on a crowded train platform.

The 27-year-old Sound of Music star met Jeremy Reed in 2008 as she returned to London from Cardiff.

Fisher, who rose to fame in 2006 in the BBC One talent show How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?, had taken a seat next to him at Cardiff station.

The pair married on Saturday at St Donats Church near Llantwit Major in the Vale of Glamorgan, said her agent.

Fisher had revealed details of her "brief encounter" which eventually led her up the wedding aisle in February last year.

"We had a bit of a conversation but I didn't even look at him," she told Hello! magazine.

"Then after a few minutes it seemed like I was being rude... so I turned round and there was this absolutely gorgeous, rugged man with the cutest dimples."

The pair did not exchange numbers before going their separate ways, but Mr Reed, who lives in Barry, tracked her down to ask her out with the help of bass-baritone Bryn Terfel.

Mr Reed had a friend who knew Terfel, who had performed with Fisher in the past.

Terfel rang her out of the blue to say a "friend of a friend of a friend" had bumped into her at a station and wanted to meet again.

Mr Reed gave her a toy train as a gift on their first date, said Fisher, a Welsh speaker who grew up in a village near Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.
