Gavin Henson plans to leave his native Wales for London.

The former Wales and Ospreys player told Hello! magazine he needed "a bit of a change" after his split from Charlotte Church.

Henson, who is currently starring in Strictly Come Dancing, said he felt his career and his family would benefit from the move.

He said: " I have to start thinking about what I have to do after rugby."

He said: "I feel it will be better for me as a person to move. And because Charlotte works up here and the kids are up here a lot, it all ties in.

"There are a couple of things off the field and they're in London, so if I could keep that door open a little bit."

Henson said his children, three-year-old Ruby and 21-month-old Dexter, were watching his progress on the BBC One show.

He said: "Charlotte said they watched and were dancing for half an hour afterwards.

"They recognised their dad, which is awesome.

"I just want to be a good person and a good role model for them. Being a father is the best thing in the world.

"I have so much fun with my kids. They make me laugh all the time. Ruby is now full of sentences."

Henson posed for the magazine interview in a Mad Men style photo shoot with his Strictly partner Katya Virshilas.
