Katherine Jenkins' thanks after Gethin Jones engagement

Singer Katherine Jenkins has thanked fans for their messages of congratulations after getting engaged to her fellow Welsh celebrity, TV presenter Gethin Jones.

She and the Cardiff-born former Blue Peter presenter met on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing in 2007.

The star, from Neath, wrote on Twitter: "Thank you for all your kind tweets & messages today... They mean a lot x".

Jones, 32, proposed on holiday in Mexico last month.

She told fans in a message on her website that the big day would be next year, but the couple had not yet set a date.

She wrote: "Geth and I are engaged! He popped the question at the end of an amazing holiday on the coast of Mexico and of course I said yes.

"We haven't set a date yet but it will be sometime next year.

"Thank you for the lovely messages we have already received. It means a lot to us."

Newspapers said the couple were planning to get married in Wales in summer 2012.

The couple met when Jones was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing and the singer made a guest appearance on the show.

They were reported to have bought a £4.7m house in London last summer, which led to rumours the pair were considering marriage.
