MoD probe as soldier shot at Castlemartin range

A military investigation is under way after a soldier was shot during a live firing exercise at Castlemartin in Pembrokeshire.

The soldier is believed to be part of the Royal Anglian Regiment training at the ranges on Wednesday last week.

It is understood he was taken to Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, and then transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.

An MoD spokesman said: "We are aware of an incident at Castlemartin ranges."

The spokesman added: "The cause of the incident is currently under investigation by the Royal Military Police and the Army's accident investigation team."
