Swansea prison 'doing well despite overcrowding'

Swansea prison is the third most overcrowded prison in England and Wales, according to figures released on Tuesday.

Built for 240 prisoners, it now holds 436.

The Prison Reform Trust, who carried out this analysis, are calling for more community sentences to reduce the prison population and re-offending rates.

Geoff Dobson, the Trust's company secretary, told Peter Johnson the prison had done well to maintain a safe environment.
