Brian Grady: Woman, 34, charged over murderer's escape

A woman has been charged with helping a convicted murderer escape from prison in Monmouthshire.

Brian Grady, 26, from Bristol, is still on the run after failing to return to HMP Prescoed, near Usk, on Monday.

A 34-year-old woman from Bristol is due to appear before magistrates in Caerphilly on Friday morning.

Grady, also known as Brian Revill, was nearing the end of an 11-year sentence for killing a man who tried to stop him during a mugging in Bristol in 2003.

Police are taking no further action against a 37-year-old Bristol man who had also been arrested on suspicion of assisting a prisoner to escape.

The Gwent force is continuing to appeal for information to find Grady.

He is described as white, 5ft 11in (1.8m), of medium build, with short light brown hair and blue eyes. He has a scar under his left eye and speaks with a Bristol accent.

Police believe he could be in the Bristol area because he has contacts there.

People are advised not to approach him but to call police if they have any information on his whereabouts.

Monmouth MP David Davies has criticised the risk assessment which allowed Grady to be moved to an open prison even though he was shortly due for release.
