A snack bar manufacturer is to move its main production plant from north to south Wales.

Halo Foods has agreed a 25-year lease for a purpose-built new unit on a site in Newport.

It means about 120 out of 143 staff at its base in Tywyn, Gwynedd being offered the option of transferring.

Managing director Robin Williams said the move "would mean change for some people" but would allow it to become "a global player with its base in Wales".

Staff working on product development, IT and at its retail shop will stay in Tywyn.

The firm has begun a seven-week consultation with staff.
