Motorist dies in Dolgellau refuse lorry collision

A driver has died and a woman has been airlifted to hospital after a car was in collision with a refuse lorry near Dolgellau, say North Wales Police.
The incident involving a Citroen car and a wagon happened at the junction of the A470 and A494 at around 12:43 BST.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger was flown to Aberystwyth's Bronglais Hospital.
Meanwhile, an overturned lorry on the A48 near Newport is causing severe delays for Friday rush-hour traffic.
Diversions are in place following the incident on the westbound carriageway between Nash Road roundabout and Corporation Road.
In addition, Traffic Wales said the southbound A467 Rogerstone bypass near Newport is closed due to an accident between Morrisons roundabout and the junction with Forge Road.
'Witnesses'
North Wales Police have since reopened the A470 at the junction with A494 after carrying out an investigation into the earlier fatal collision.
Sgt Emlyn Hughes said: "At the time of the collision we believe that there was a stream of traffic travelling in the area and it is therefore very possible that a number of motorists and passengers witnessed the incident."
Motorist were reporting long delays as they diverted through the town, with added bank holiday weekend traffic, and visitors travelling to Bala for the start of the Urdd National Eisteddfod.
