The Commonwealth Games start in Glasgow on 23 July.
Light shows were also held in Cardiff Bay at venues including the Wales Millennium Centre.
Sports Wales chief executive Sarah Powell said: "With the nation behind Team Wales we know our athletes will take encouragement and give their all for the Welsh jersey."
Sport Wales have asked members of the public to share pictures of the events using the hashtags #poblwc2014 and #GoWales.
