Security firm wins Dyfed-Powys Police CCTV research contract

Plans to research CCTV provision to tackle crime across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys have taken a step forward.

Security consultant Instrom has won a contract to look at the effectiveness of CCTV and the potential for new technology to be used.

A report is due to be published in the autumn.

The work is being funded by Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner Christopher Salmon and county councils.

Mr Salmon said he would like a co-ordinated approach to CCTV across the force area.

"As many local councils reduce CCTV funding due to pressure on the public purse, our research will look at evidence of CCTV effectiveness in Dyfed-Powys and the potential for new technology to reduce crime," he said.
