Two more nurses have been arrested in connection with an investigation into allegations of wilful neglect at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend.

The allegations involve the falsification of entries in patients' notes.

South Wales Police say the local women, 29 and 40, have been bailed. They were both previously suspended by Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board.

Five arrests have now been made in total and three nurses charged.

The health board had previously suspended 15 nurses in their inquiry - all but one of them from the Princess of Wales - and it is believed the two arrested nurses were among them.

A spokeswoman said: "We cannot comment on ongoing police investigations, but we continue to help police with their enquiries."

The three nurses from Bridgend who have already been charged are accused of failing to check blood glucose levels before allegedly falsifying patients' notes.

The offences were said to have taken place between September 2012 and January 2013 on a specialist ward at the Princess of Wales Hospital,

Nurses Lauro Bertulano, 44, and Clare Cahill, 41, both face six counts of wilful neglect.

Rebecca Jones, 29, has admitted nine charges of wilful neglect.
