Some Welsh ambulance workers vote for industrial action in principle

Some ambulance workers in Wales have voted in principle for industrial action.

The GMB union asked its members if they would be willing to take action if a formal vote was called.

The union is one of four in the ambulance service and represents about 1,000 workers

The Welsh Ambulance Service said it was disappointed, as it is making changes which will improve services to patients.

BBC Wales health correspondent Owain Clarke said it does not mean there will be a strike, or even a work to rule, as there would need to be another vote first.

But he added: "This really does illustrate the disquiet in the ambulance service at the minute - a service of course which hasn't met most if its most urgent targets for most of the last two years."
