Photojournalism students on Porthcawl Elvis Festival

The King and his rock'n'roll courtiers took over Porthcawl, Bridgend county, for the town's annual celebration of all things Elvis Presley.

The event every September includes fans offering a tribute to Elvis in his army days as well as from his long career as a star.

Elvis wigs were a popular part of some outfits, along with the Hawaiian look.

Some fans preferred a more low-key leather look in their tribute to The King

But the day was not all rock'n'roll. This Elvis took a break from his fans to catch up with the news.

The day provided an opportunity for Elvis fans to make the seaside resort awash with colour.

Visitors stopped some of those dressing up to pose for photos of their own.

Some fans showed their devotion with T-shirts that said it for them.

These fans brought their own blow-up instruments to add a touch of stage presence.

The day sees the town given over to Elvis, with more than 50 tribute acts performing in venues in the town.

This group is not an Elvis tribute act but first-year BA Photojournalism students from the University of South Wales who took the photos used in this gallery
