BBC Wales 'disappointed" with fall in radio audiences

BBC Wales has said it is "disappointed" with a fall in audiences for both Radio Wales and Radio Cymru.

Figures for July to September show Radio Wales had its lowest number of listeners for five years.

Radio Cymru's weekly audience dropped to its lowest on record.

Both of the BBC's radio stations in Wales saw a significant fall in the number of listeners who tune in every week.

Radio Cymru saw the biggest drop - 105,000 people were listening each week during the third quarter of this year, compared to 147,000 the quarter before.

Radio Wales also experienced a fall - with 398,000 weekly listeners, compared to 438,000 three months previously.

BBC Wales said it will be taking steps to "strengthen" both stations in future.
