Travel guidance 'dangerous' for disabled, charities claim

Culture and Sports Minister Ken Skates said it would make cycling and walking safer and more attractive

New guidance which, if adopted, could see cyclists use pedestrianised areas may be dangerous for disabled people, a group of charities have claimed.

Guide Dogs Cymru, Disability Wales, RNIB Cymru and Wales Council of the Blind say it could increase collisions and the chance of injury.

The guidance, external, part of the Active Travel (Wales) Act, external, sets out how councils should plan walking and cycling routes.

The Welsh government says it promotes activity and will reduce traffic.
