'Only way is up' as Barry Island funfair re-opens

A multi-million pound redevelopment of one of south Wales' most famous fairgrounds is taking its first steps this holiday weekend.

The keys for Barry Island Pleasure Park were handed over to the new owners on Monday following negotiations with former owners Hilco.

A small fairground will be opening on Friday in time for the Easter weekend.

Kimberley Danter, director of Symonds Yat Leisure Park, said the site had been an eyesore but they plan to transform it.
