Welsh broadcaster S4C has signed a deal with Sony International to produce content to be sold across the world.

The TV channel has filmed a six-part adventure series called Wild Recruits in and around Caernarfon, Gwynedd.

It is hoped other TV companies will buy the format and film in the same area, providing a boost to the economy.

S4C entertainment commissioner Elen Rhys said Sony provides S4C with contacts and expertise while Wales offers "wonderful and new ideas".

This deal comes just one day after the channel announced a 6% fall in the number of people who watched S4C on TV each week in Wales in the last year.

Wales Office Minister Alun Cairns said: "I hope the legacy of this deal will see other TV companies capitalising on the many opportunities Wales holds in providing unique and stunning backdrops to their future filming projects."
