Unemployment up by 4,000 in Wales
- Published
The number of people out of work in Wales is 99,000 - up 4,000 on the last quarter, official figures show.
It reverses a fall in unemployment recorded last month, though the employment rate in Wales has remained relatively unchanged at 56.5%.
Across the UK, unemployment stands at 1.82 million people, up 10,000 for the quarter.
The Welsh government said Wales has seen the largest increase in employment rates in the UK over the last year.
"These results indicate the Welsh economy is performing well and our policies to create jobs are delivering," said a Welsh government official.
'Volatility'
In the past 12 months, some 58,000 more people in Wales have found work - with 1.42 million people in employment.
Welsh Secretary Stephen Crabb said inward investment and business growth earlier this year in Wales was now "bearing real fruit" but he warned the UK was "surrounded by economic risk and volatility".
"However we have a [UK] government which is committed to delivering stability, security and the opportunity to succeed," he added.
ANALYSIS by Brian Meechan, BBC Wales business correspondent
We've talked a bit over the last year or so about economic inactivity - that's people who are essentially not counted as employed or unemployed because they're carers or students or long term sick.
There was a real concern here for a while because Wales was bucking the trend and economic inactivity was rising to quite high levels.
What these figures show is that economic inactivity is falling and that means these people are coming back into the jobs market.
Now of course some of them have jobs while some are looking for work. That help explain why both unemployment and employment are rising.
The good news is that although unemployment has gone up a little - employment's gone up quite a bit. 58,000 more people are working this year compared to last year.
