Heavy rain and gales warning issued for south and mid Wales

Persistent heavy rain and 65mph gales are predicted to hit south and mid Wales on Saturday.

The Met Office said there was a risk of localised flooding as up to 5cm-7cm (2-3in) of rain is expected to fall.

The warning, external covers Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Newport, Powys, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Swansea, Torfaen and Vale of Glamorgan.

It is valid from 06:00 GMT to 22:00.
