Newport East AM John Griffiths becomes water vole champion

Wales' rarest species of animal, bird and plant are to be assigned an assembly member each to champion their cause.

From red squirrels to dolphins, 60 of the most threatened wildlife in Wales will be paired with a politician.

Early adopters include John Griffiths, who will speak up on behalf of water voles.

The Labour MP for Newport East went to the Gwent Wildlife Trust's reserve in his constituency, where they can be found.
